Project ADAM Complete!

Congratulations to the Truman Elementary team as they join a nationwide effort to make the school Heart Safe with Project ADAM. This training ensures the campus is prepared to provide an immediate response to someone suffering a cardiac emergency.
The latest national statistics indicate that more than 350,000 children and adults in the US die from Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) every year, most of them outside of the hospital. Through the cooperative efforts with Project ADAM - St. Louis, we have joined hundreds of schools throughout the nation in preparing our school for a life-threatening emergency, enabling us to offer the best chance for survival to someone experiencing a SCA.
Staff have been trained and have practiced drills with EMS to assist with an emergency during regular school hours. For those organizations using the building after school hours, there is access to the AEDs (a life-saving device that anyone can use). If you suspect someone is having an SCA, please feel free to use the equipment. First call 911, start CPR, and retrieve an AED (located in the library and the back kindergarten hallway by room 107, exit 9). To use an AED, first press the power button to turn the device on and then follow the verbal prompts.
Truman Elementary is the third school in the district to complete the training. Rolla Junior High and Mark Twain Elementary are Project ADAM certified, and the remaining schools will be trained by Director of Health Services Stephanie Waneka and her team as soon as possible.
