Accelerated Reader (AR)

Reading is an Adventure!

Reading is an Adventure! The Accelerated Reader (AR) program at Truman Elementary School continues to help all students become independent readers. Students in first through third grades take a S.T.A.R. reading test to establish a reading range. Students select books that are within their reading range and read them at their own pace. Students then take a quiz and earn points working toward a quarterly goal that is set by using a formula based on the reader's S.T.A.R. test.

Truman Read-In
Truman Read-Ins will be held one Thursday a month from September through April in the library from 3:30-4:30. This activity is designed to give students an opportunity to work closely with teachers while they read and review AR books before quizzing. The library will be open for book exchange during this time for students attending the Read-In. Check the Truman calendar for exact dates. Permission slips will be required for students attending. More information will be sent home in the future.
